This tunnel allows the descent of Avenida Italia below Avenida Centenario, at their intersection, thus speeding up the circulation of vehicles in an East-West direction in one of the main arteries of the city of Montevideo.

The tunnel has 92.5 m covered and 210 m of accesses.

The structure consists of containments made with cast walls, a reinforced concrete floor on site, and a ceiling made of prestressed precast tiles that is also completed with on-site filling.
