PAN DE AZÚCAR VIADUCT

Location: Maldonado, Uruguay
Owner: National Road Administration (DNV)
Builder: SACEEM
Year: 2005

This viaduct allows the diversion of Route 9 towards the city of Pan de Azúcar, over the Interbalnearia Route (Route 10).

It has a span of 47.2 m and a deviation of 43º. The beam that makes up the deck is a prestressed double-action box girder. As it is strongly skewed, it is highly hyperstatic in flexion / torsion.

The infrastructure has two wall-type abutments made of reinforced concrete, which look out from the green undulation of the surroundings, almost vertical, with sharp edges.

The rust-coloured bands of the CorTen steel accentuate the straight view of the lower floor in contrast to the slightly curved upper floor.
